Empowering Individuals
The Arc of Allen County strives to empower individuals with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities to reach their highest level of independence, achievement, self-esteem, and improve their overall quality of life.
Through a variety of settings and programs, the Arc of Allen County provides
day care, educational training, human rights advocacy, and information and referral.
The Arc of Allen County also acts as an advocate to make a positive difference in the lives of the people we serve. This advocacy extends to ensure that their rights as citizens are protected, and they are supported to live as they choose.
Founded in 1953, The Arc of Allen County established the first private school in the state of Ohio with the sole purpose of educating children with mental retardation - The Robin Rogers School. Over the next 50 years, our organization has changed its services to reflect the constant change of challenges faced by those with disabilities.
The Arc of Allen County is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, tax-exempt organization. All donations are tax-deductible under section 170 of the IRS code.
The core values that The Arc of Allen County believes in:
- People First
- Democracy
- Visionary Leadership
- Community Participation
- Diversity
- Integrity and Excellence
